Changing your PSN ID is easy and it won’t cost you anything, but there are a few catches that Sony is warning users about before they make the switch. For starters, your new PSN ID can only be used online, so any games you have saved offline with your old PSN ID will no longer be accessible. In addition, any apps or services that you use with your old PSN ID will no longer work with your new one, including but not limited to:
-Any in-game currencies that you may have purchased
-Downloadable content or game / app save data
-Your progress within leaderboards
-Group messaging threads
-If you change your mind and want to go back to using your old PSN ID, you can do so for free as many times as you like. However, Sony warns that “reverting back may take a bit of time” and that some apps and games may not recognize your old PSN ID right away.
Enter a new Online ID

How to change your gamertag on ps4
If you’re like most gamers, you want your gamertag to reflect your unique identity. But what do you do if someone else is already using the gamertag you want? Don’t worry – you can change your gamertag on PS4. Here’s how.
Go to [link] and sign in with your PlayStation Network account
If you’re using a web browser, go to the PlayStation Account Management section, and sign in with your PlayStation Network account. Select PSN Profile in the left menu, and then select Online ID at the top of the page. Enter your new online ID. If the ID you want is already taken, you’ll be prompted to choose another one.
Select your Profile
On the PlayStation 4, every user account has a unique profile. This profile includes information such as the account name, avatar, and any specific settings for that account. Only one gamertag can be associated with each profile.
If you want to change your gamertag on ps4, you will need to select your profile first. You can do this by pressing the “PS” button on your controller, and then selecting “Profile” from the menu that appears.
Once you have selected your profile, press the “Options” button on your controller. From the options menu, select “Edit Profile.” This will allow you to change various aspects of your profile, including your gamertag.
Select the “Gamertag” option from the list of options. You will then be able to enter a new gamertag for yourself. If the gamertag you enter is already taken, you will be prompted to enter a different one.
Select Online ID
Select [Profile] > [Online ID], or Account Management in the PlayStation App and enter an Online ID of your choice.
Enter a new Online ID
Your Online ID is the unique name that appears online when you play games or use other online services on your PlayStation 4 console. You can choose any Online ID you like, as long as it’s not already in use by someone else.
If your desired gamertag is already taken, you’ll be prompted to enter a new one. Just enter a new Online ID and continue with the sign-up process.
Re-enter your new Online ID to confirm
The final step is to re-enter your new Online ID to confirm the change. You’ll see a warning that reads, “Changing your PSN Online ID may adversely affect some games, applications and features.” This is due to the fact that some games were not built with the PSN ID change feature in mind, and as a result, you may lose access to game progression, saved data, DLC, or other content. You should also be aware that after you change your PSN ID, you will have to re-download any DLC you previously purchased.
If your desired gamertag is already taken, you will be prompted to enter a new one
If your desired gamertag is already taken when you try to create a new account or change your existing gamertag, you will be prompted to enter a new one. If you have an account on PlayStation™Network (PSN), you can sign in to PlayStation™Store, select your gamertag in the upper-right corner, and then select Account Information. From there, you can select Profile and then Edit Profile.
If you do not have an account on PSN, you can create one by visiting playstation.com/psn/ signup/.
